What is Compression Therapy?

Compression therapy is a treatment method that involves the use of external pressure on specific areas of the body to improve circulation and alleviate symptoms related to various medical conditions or performance recovery. It is commonly used in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and the management of certain medical conditions.

Here are some key aspects of compression therapy:

1. Compression Garments:

  • Our garments are the award-winning Rapid Reboot, FDA-cleared compression technology that speeds up recovery, boosts circulation, relieves soreness, and improves lymphatic function.

2. Types of Compression:

  • There are different levels of compression, ranging from mild to firm. The choice of compression level depends on the specific therapeutic goals and the medical condition being treated.

3. Medical Conditions Treated with Compression Therapy:

  • Venous Insufficiency: Compression therapy is commonly used to manage conditions like chronic venous insufficiency, where the veins have difficulty returning blood to the heart.
  • Edema: Compression can help reduce swelling and fluid retention in the affected areas.
  • Lymphedema: This is a condition characterized by the accumulation of lymphatic fluid, and compression therapy is often part of its management.
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Compression may be prescribed to reduce the risk of blood clots in certain individuals.

4. Sports and Performance Recovery:

  • Athletes may use compression garments to improve circulation, reduce muscle soreness, and enhance recovery after intense physical activity.

5. Mechanism of Action:

  • Compression therapy works by applying external pressure to the limbs, which helps to improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.
  • This pressure can reduce the diameter of blood vessels, promoting venous return and preventing blood from pooling in the extremities.

6. Duration of Use:

  • The duration and frequency of compression therapy can vary between 10 - 30 mins based on the individual's condition and treatment goals.

It's essential for individuals considering compression therapy to consult with their healthcare provider to determine if it is suitable for their specific condition and to receive personalized recommendations.

How does it work?

Compression Therapy speeds up your body’s natural healing processes by enhancing blood flow to your muscles to facilitate cellular repair and protein synthesis, boosting lymphatic drainage to relieve inflammation and reduce swelling, and mobilizing waste products such as lactic acid and excess fluids. What you’ll notice is less stiffness and soreness, as well as increased mobility and flexibility.

Who can do CT?

Whether you’re an Olympian or an everyday athlete, maximize your training days with quicker recovery.

While CT is safe to use for a variety of applications, please consult your doctor before session.

If you know or suspect you may have the following: deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism (blood clot) or edema, thrombophlebitis, inflammation of the skin (e.g., erysipelas, cellulitis), ischemic vascular disease, severe peripheral neuropathy, or related issues and complications.

How often can you do CT?

Compress Therapy is ideal right after a workout, race, or event, especially after a long, arduous one. However, you can use the boots after a long day, anytime your legs are feeling sore, or whenever you feel you need to reboot!

How long do I use it?

Our Rapid Reboot comes with three time settings – 10, 20, and 30 minutes. Use these depending on the intensity of your training, race, or event. To recover from a long, arduous workout, for example, you’ll want to use the boots for at least 20 or 30 minutes.  For a quick reboot or pre-workout session, 10 minutes should be enough to make your legs and body feel great!

One thing to bear in mind is that longer is not necessarily better, especially after 30 minutes. There is no harm in going longer, but you get all the benefit you need within 30 minutes of using the boots, even after a long race or intense workout.
